About
Opened March 2021, eighteen months later than planned, because the chairs were at sea.
What this is
OmakaseRoom is an eight-seat omakase counter on Skoufa Street, run by Hiroshi Tanaka and Despina Marinakou. There is one menu each night, set at half past five after the day-boat fish arrives, and it is served at the counter to eight people at a time, twice a night, Wednesday through Saturday.
What makes the room what it is, mostly, is what it refuses. There is no à la carte. There are no tables. There is no music, no menu on paper, and no second helpings, because the rice is measured for the seating.
